Rising Dragon Tai Chi

Rising Dragon Tai Chi School

The Rising Dragon Tai Chi School was founded by Richard Farmer in Cardiff in 1979 and is a member of the Tai Chi Union of Great Britain. The School has a network of teachers in the whole of the UK. We follow a lineage that comes directly from the Yang Family, via Cheng Man Ching, Dr Chi Chiang Tao to Richard Farmer and so to all Rising Dragon Tai Chi Teachers. Look at the website by clicking here, for further information about the School.

Why Tai Chi?

Many people choose Tai Chi, all for different reasons. It could be for health, philosophical or other personal reasons. I get people coming to my classes from all walks of life, and of different ages. All are looking for something, and finding Tai Chi can be a gateway to a more intimate and enjoyable relationship with their own self and the world we are living in. Tai Chi is a way of exploring natural movement. Where movement comes natural and easeful. It can take you to a place where you are already whole. The Tai Chi form that is taught to beginners is the Short form. It is taught to internalise all the physical principles: such as soft limit, vertical spine, shoulder width, natural step and single weighted step. In this first year of Tai Chi, you'll also work with the principles of Tai Chi, they are yielding, sticking, rooting and acting natural. All this will help you to discover you natural way of moving.

"My teachings are easy to understand and easy to put into practice.
Yet your intellect will never grasp them,
And if you try to practise them, you'll fail.

My teachings are older than the world.
How can you grasp their meaning?

If you want to know me,
Look inside your heart."

-Tao Te Ching

New beginners classes are starting soon so please forward your name and details and I'll put you on a mailing list, and I'll keep you posted.

Go to the Contact Us page for details of how to get in touch. Or click here to send me an email.

I see private students, who are normally people that find it difficult to make the commitment to attend class once a week.

I occasionally do talks and one-off Tai Chi classes.

Once a month I do a Saturday workshop for students in my classes, working with the principles of Tai Chi.
